Recurring Tasks on certain day/week of month not the actual day

I want to make a recurrent task with a specific date (ex.: 10th ) of every month but sometime the date that I created falls on the weekend… How can I avoid having to change it manually every time?

Hello @anon82423735 unfortunately that is not possible yet.
But here is an existing feedback request thread to vote on: Recurring Tasks on certain day/week of month not the actual day

Thank you,

I already voted on that thread; this topic is on high demand! Will Asana make it happen?

Just making sure this stays alive. Mind-blowing this isn’t a feature in 2022.

Just adding ANOTHER vote on here for this option! It’s coming up 5 years and seems to be a simple option on Outlook. Come on.

Wen this feature?

Being able to select a certain day of the month (i.e. 1st Monday of every month) is a valuable feature. There are many times when a recurring task needs to be completed on the 3rd Thursday of the month (for example). It seems to be a rather simple feature to add under the monthly recurring option. Is something Asana can add?

Hello @Alissa_Prochaska,

I have found an existing feedback request thread where you might want to upvote: Recurring Tasks on certain day/week of month not the actual day

Please update us on this request. This seems like a no-brainer, and would greatly enhance the product! Monthly meetings on the first or third week of the month are standard, and tasks assigned accordingly would be very VERY helpful!
Thanks!

This feature would be helpful since the current recurring setting would mess up the schedule. Example, I need a task to recur every Friday, but instead the current setting is limited to the day of the month, let’s say 5th of the month. Not all 5th of the month is a Friday, that’s where the schedule gets messed up.

For anyone looking for a workaround - if you do “Custom” you can do Repeats every 4 weeks on a specific day. Not perfect, and a shame that we can’t just mark exactly what the recurrence is, but this might help folks!

Any response to this thread? Please tell me this will be updated soon. Years of feedback really doesn’t change anything? I’ve placed my vote & I wish I could vote 1000 more times because biweekly, weekday monthly are basic deadlines for any business. Listen & please update!!

Quickly create a recurring task recurring task on a certain day/week not actual day

CLICK UP offers the following

Scheduling options include:

  • Daily: The task will recur every day with the option to skip weekends
  • Weekly: Recurs once a week on the day you choose
  • Monthly: Option to recur on the same day each month that you’ve chosen, a select weekday of the month (such as the first Friday), the 1st of the month, or the last calendar date in the month (such as September 30th, followed by October 31st).
  • Yearly: Recurs once a year on the day you choose
  • Days after: Recurs a certain number of days after the task has been marked complete
  • Custom: Indicate if the task should repeat every few days, on select days in the week, select weeks in the month, or select days of the year

5 years later and this still isn’t a feature? It’s a deal-breaker for me, so if nobody from Asana is going to give an update on this, I need to find something else.

I see the ClickUp suggestion above from @George_Considine. Anyone else have a good alternative to Asana?
Thanks!

Definitely need this because right now I’m about to create a task that reminds me to create a task to prep for this meeting, which is isn’t efficient at all. Hope this feature gets added soon since this thread is pretty old and has a lot of upvotes…

I need to create a recurring task on the first Thursday of every month. For now, I can only recur it on the first day, and then manual adjust. Not great.

Really disappointed, as a new and prospective Asana user (currently on trial) that this feature is not a standard feature yet - it is standard with almost every other platform we know of.

What is even more disappointing is that a feature that has been requested by so many over such a long time has absolutely no updates or projected timelines for completion - or even if it is going to be implemented at all.

That’s the real problem for us.
