Project Name in Asana Inbox

If I play the devils advocate: removing the name unclutters the Inbox, and one could assume you are opening notifications one by one anyway so you’ll see the content before archiving… but in reality you might quickly archive things without opening them.

I guess it might defeat the purpose of an A/B test…

I can certainly appreciate the creativity in your devil’s advocate guess as I can’t come up with anything better. However, I don’t think your assumption is correct because in the past, within the left-hand side inbox pane, you could read the last comment/update to a task and know what project it’s referring to and archive all very quickly without “opening” the task (to use your language). Now, when you read a comment you don’t know what project it relates to, so you have to click on the right-hand pane (to “open” the task) and then to make matters worse, if there are several comments/updates to the task, you have to scroll up to see what project this relates to because when you click on the update it takes you to the “bottom” of the task, not the “top” where the project/client is located. This may seem like not a big deal, but it’s drastically less efficient in practice, especially when you’re reviewing many tasks throughout the day. In the old view, I was able to read and archive task notifications much quicker as I didn’t have to dive into the right hand pane window to know what client/Project we’re in. We have 100+ projects for each of our clients and many of the tasks have the same name so it’s been a horrible experience as other users have mentioned.

I agree and I believe they’ll revert back because it indeed disrupts a lot of people’s workflow. At least for the ones using the Asana Inbox correctly, which I can only encourage!

@Emily_Roman , is there any ETA on when they can close the test? I understand that they might be analyzing results but I don’t understand why they can close the test/variant for those of us that were impacted.

@Emily_Roman Is there any update on this per Rebecca’s question?

Also, I’ve asked a few times about what the logic is for this test and haven’t heard a response. Is this something you can find out more about? I’d like some sort of explanation if you can find out as I’m a curious person and I’ve been a huge asana advocate for some time, but this is really frustrating.

When can we have the correct “version” back? I’m using my mobile app more than more desktop just because i have the project name tied to my inbox messages there. This is gone on for over a month, no notice of being included in this “test” - we all should have had the option to opt out. The last update from Emily_Roman was 11 days ago. Beyond frustrated.

Hi everyone, I’m afraid I still don’t have an update about this test. Your patience is greatly appreciated, and I assure you that once a decision has been made regarding the launch or rollback of this update, we will promptly notify you. Thanks in advance for all feedback you have shared so far!

Is there someone we can share our experience and opinion with? As paying members, and being a part of the test without opting in, whomever is making the decisions should be open to hearing feedback from arguably their most important stakeholder - paying customers.
As stated by other members, this unannounced change has caused undue burden to our team. We’ll be forced to pursue other options if it does not revert to the previous - and usable format.
thanks
