Project Folders (sub-teams)

@Neil27 - do portfolios not give you what you need? They’re not perfect but I personally don’t really have issues with organization using a series of nested and parallel portfolios.

To be honest, I don’t know. For another $15/user just to add folders via portfolios, we just started moving more things off of Asana and into a PM module we’re building for the CRM, so it’s not something we’ve even opted to try. A cluttered interface is one of my hot button issues, and if we’re going to be fighting a years-long turnaround for some basic features, it doesn’t make sense to NOT move it to the CRM.

Saw that it had been rolled out to some people. But it’s been on the request list for 8 years, and we don’t know when or if we’ll see it anytime soon.

It seems like a massive organizational miss to not allow the creation of a folder structure within the Work section in the sidebar. To be able to move projects into specific category folders that can be expanded or collapsed would be a HUGE user experience improvement. As someone who oversee hundreds of projects in different company work streams, it is frustrating that my ‘Work’ side bar is just a massive running list of projects with no option to organize. The ‘Portfolio’ section doesn’t solve this problem - it still keep projects in an unorganized running list in the Work section; I also want to be able to expand and collapse different folders from my work view to see projects within holistically w/o having to click individual porfolios to see within.

This has now been a near 10 year request. Any ability to manually order, create a hierarchy or hide projects in the sidebar is desperately needed. Portfolios help but with the projects mixed into the same view they are difficult to find or make sense once you have even 10 things in the side bar. Even the ability to split portfolios apart from projects would help.

I don’t think anyone is looking for integration into how the projects work or can be summarised, just a better visual clarity. The fact that I have been able to build an external dashboard using you own API that can do this is not a good look when trying to advocate for Asana as the best option to use for our needs.
