Portfolio Organization with Projects within and Portfolios

We are a custom home builder and I manage several projects from the acquisition of the project through the build of the project to the sale and closing which includes handing the home over to the new homeowner. There are several tasks involved which can be bulked into separate projects and some that need to be bulked into a portfolio because there are several tasks within each task, making each task their own project. I need to view this at a high level along with tracking each task. The problem is creating the portfolio as a template. That is what I want to do, but instead I have each project as a template and have to add it to the portfolio. This creates many of the same project names on the side bar and frankly creates a mess. Is there another way to manage this so you only ever see the Portfolio name on the left tile bar and then you can go into the portfolio into your project that you need to work on?

Welcome, @Melodi_Gates,

I feel it’s hard in a Forum format to offer high-quality answers to workflow design questions like you’re asking. It requires a dialog and screen share, generally, and perhaps even contextual inquiry.

Maybe others can do better here, but I’d encourage you to seek out an Asana partner (those of us here with the red stars on our profile images) for a consulting engagement.

Thanks,

Larry

Good Morning Larry, I have a call set up actually to discuss with Asana. I wanted to put this question out here though in case anyone else encountered this with portfolios/projects as well to see if they have approached it within their workflow.

Have a great day,
Melodi

I also see I am not the only one needing this. I just came upon another chat where users in 2024 are asking for this.
