Portfolio Edit Effort does not recognize Estimated Hours from Imported Projects

I am able to Import Projects into Asana using the “Import spreadsheet” functionality. My spreadsheet contains an “Estimated Hours” column and the resulting project displays this column with the correct values.

However, if I add this project to my portfolio the portfolio does not recognize the Estimated Hours field as an option in my Workload view. It only gives me the option to use Task Count to report effort.

If I use the “Edit Effort…” option it will add a blank “Estimated Hours” column to my project instead of recognizing the existing data column.

What is the solution to my problem?

Hello @Gerald_Garcia , happy to help. Do you have scheduled tasks dates in this project? It is also important to have the custom field created in the project.

Please let me know if this helps.

Yes, my CSV file contains start and due date columns populated with data:

This information appears as expected in the “Due Date” project column as a date range (start – due).

Do you have any other projects in that portfolio that do not contain that custom field “Estimated Hours”?

No, the portfolio only contains two projects as a test. Both projects were created from the same CSV file. Both contain Estimated Hours.

Is this a known bug? If it is a bug, when is the expected release date for a fix?

If not, can someone from the Asana support team explain the error in my process?

Hi @Gerald_Garcia, thanks for following up.

I suggested reaching out to our Support team with your .csv file. Our Support team has access to additional tools that we don’t have here on the Community team to be able to look into this further for you.

You can contact them by following these steps: How to contact our Support Team ✉

I hope this helps!
