Today (August 14th), clicking on a task in the search results list doesn’t display it in full screen. I recall it working in full screen until recently.

However, clicking on a task listed in its description does display it in full screen.
Also, clicking on an external URL listed in the task description opens it in a new tab.

Given this, it seems like a good idea to display the task in full screen in a separate view when clicked.

I’ve been out of the office for three days, but today (August 14th), clicking on a task in the search results list does indeed take you to a full screen task. This is a terrible feature, it’s simply unbelievable that despite all of these people pointing that out, nothing has been done to fix it for literally weeks.

This is still happening. But it’s random, I haven’t commented again before now because the first two did NOT open full-screen. The third did. This does not seem like a “feature” if it does not happen for every task.

How many votes does this post need before you remove this “feature”?

Voted but commenting as well to reiterate how incredibly annoying and disruptive this feature is. I would appreciate this being added as a QOL update if it were an option instead of enforced. Worse, we don’t even have access to the search bar when tasks are full screen, so truly the only option from there is to click the back arrow. Just truly inefficient design. Hoping Asana will change this ASAP.

When you’re on full screen, try hitting esc, that’s worked for me and has been a godsend for our firm (because apparently Asana is ignoring this problem).

Also, I’ve noticed that once I hit esc to return back to the project, I’ve got a 50/50 chance that if I search for an open another task on that same project, it doesn’t go to full screen. IMHO, this is a bug that they don’t know how to fix so they’re calling it a feature instead.

thanks for this! seems to work for now, and i agree that it seems like a bug they don’t know how to/don’t want to put the manpower towards fixing lol

This really is super annoying, yes, I can hit esc to go back to the project, but why why why is this not being addressed? No one wants this “feature”.
