"Omg, that’s SO you!” - What’s your signature work move?

Happy Friday, everyone! :waving_hand:

Let’s talk about those little things you do at work that your teammates instantly associate with you. You know the kind… the habits, phrases, or behaviors that make people say:

"Oh yeah, this has YOU written all over it!"

:woman_raising_hand: I’ll go first:

My teammates know I love naming internal projects, portfolios and Asana AI bots after pop culture characters. My content bot, for example, is called Falkor, inspired by The NeverEnding Story :dragon: (if you’ve seen my posts, you’ve definitely seen me mention it before :face_with_hand_over_mouth:).

It’s a small thing, but giving my projects, portfolios, and bots quirky names is my way of making work feel a bit more creative and personal.

:light_bulb: Need some inspo?

Here are a few of the “that’s so you” vibes I may or may not have seen in teammates… or let’s be honest, in myself too. I’d fit into more than one of these :eyes:

  • :card_index_dividers: Building a quick Asana project to organize literally everything
  • :hot_beverage: Using a very specific mug or cup every day that no one else is allowed to touch
  • :pencil: Writing task names in sentence case (because :sparkles: consistency :sparkles:)
  • :potted_plant: Turning your desk into a small jungle of plants, thriving beautifully… or very much not…
  • :megaphone: Being the first to say, “Want me to document this in Asana?”
  • :date: Blocking out focus time and guarding it like it’s sacred
  • :movie_camera: Showing up to meetings with a new virtual background every time like it’s your personal art exhibit
  • :pen: Leaving a trail of forgotten items in every meeting room like Hansel and Gretel, but with random personal stuff

:index_pointing_at_the_viewer: Your turn:

What’s your signature work move? That one thing your teammates instantly recognize as so you (it doesn’t have to be Asana-related, just something unique that shows up in the way you work).

Drop it in the comments and don’t be shy. You can also reply to someone else with “That’s so you” or drop your best reaction gif.

Let’s wrap up the week by celebrating the little things that make us us. Let the games begin :backhand_index_pointing_down::sparkles:

I cannot deny it. I am well known as a squirrel.

I guess I’m known for trying to inject some humor into a meeting, chat, or task. That’s what comments like “that’s so annoying!” mean, right?

My pink gear! Every time I start a meeting with someone new, my headphones are the first thing that’s talked about, followed up by my matching mug and pen

If you’ve ever been in a meeting with me, you know I can’t resist giving a quick update on the Irish weather forecast

Definitely this one: :megaphone: Being the first to say, “Want me to document this in Asana?”

But usually my version is responding to gchat work requests with something like, “Sure I can do that for you, can you put it in Asana for me?”

So, ADHD-me really identifies with @Virginia_Mowery’s squirrel…

Anyway:

  • Showing up at the office with/wearing Asana merch
  • Sending my colleagues a link to my bookings page so they can plan self-service meetings with me
  • Skewing meeting start times +5 so the start at 5, 20, 35 or 50. (This prevents back-to-back)

I always say, “If it isn’t in Asana, it didn’t happen.” I now need to add to that, “If it isn’t it Asana, it isn’t going to happen!”
