Would it be possible to create a new tag for objectives that function as KPIs or measures, similar to the existing tags for objectives, key results, and individual objectives?
Welcome, @Jessie_Joe,
Just to be clear, you don’t literally mean the Asana “tags” feature, you just mean you want another value or two in the Goal type single-select for KPIs or measures, right?
I generally will just use the existing “Key result” value in these cases with clients. Might that be a workaround?

Hello Larry,
Exactly, I’m not suggesting we literally use the tags, but rather add an extra value to identify KPIs or measures. In Asana, we already have options for Objective, Key Result, and Individual Objective, which can be interconnected as needed.
What I want to stress is a key methodological difference: in OKRs, Key Results are directly tied to specific actions that drive an objective, whereas a KPI or measure can be a more general indicator and might not be linked to a particular objective. I’ve used the workaround of assigning a Key Result in these cases, but it’s essential to communicate the distinction clearly to avoid confusion, especially among our internal stakeholders.
Additionally, I see great potential in getting even more out of Asana Goals by leveraging its API. This capability allows us to automate the updating of these indicators—for example, pulling sales data from Salesforce, revenue tracking or purchase data from SAP, or any other database. Automating these updates streamlines our management process and ensures real-time precision, ultimately supporting more agile decision-making.
Thanks for the conversation and for pushing this analysis forward!
I hear you. I wish Asana was a little more flexile in areas like this, but they try to be very judicious with customization and options which, in fairness, do add complexity, confusion, cost, etc.
