Not a fan of the new colour scheme at all, looks very washed out, and to echo what many others have said - readability is significantly impacted. Please add an option to revert back to the previous vibrant colour scheme.
I appreciate you guys wanting to make a change, but I logged in this morning and genuinely thought colour-blind mode was on. They’re so drab and boring, there’s no personality here at all. Feels much more like… Work, now, in a bad way.
I hate the fact you didn’t think about people with sensitivities. I’m extremely sensitive to light and have difficulties seeing colors on my screen as it is, plus I have visual snow syndrome, which puts a layer of faded grey grain over my entire screen. I can BARELY under CERTAIN ANGLES make up which tasks are due today and which are not as the green is grey from my perspective - the main thing I use asana for. The very low contrast across everything - even user profile pictures (???) makes my eyes struggle to focus because there is virtually no focal point.
Sad that ALL my work is in here, and honestly if I don’t get an option to switch back, I may switch software. There’s a lot of UX/UE we don’t like here but all else always outweighed it. Literally not being able to read or see my tasks is kind of a deal braker, Asana
thanks!
Please bring back the old colors! You are spoiling the fun of working with Asana.
The new colors are not only a bit worse - I hate them. My first impulse was to look around for an alternative to Asana this weekend.
Ideal would be the idea already mentioned by others to choose the colors yourself via HEX code. This would have two additional advantages: more colors for better differentiation. If you create many projects, you already had the problem of having to choose the same color for projects that do not match in terms of content.
With a selection via hex codes this problem would be solved.
Since an implementation via HEX codes will probably take some time, I plead for giving the users the choice whether they want to use the new or the old colors.
Is it my imagination, or is the gray of the font for the actual content now lighter than before? I feel like I’m having a harder time reading everything because the contrast between the font and the background seems to be lower now.
No, you’re not mistaken. I get being more careful with the color choice to be more inclusive, but the whole contrast of the app is SEVERELY off now. Not to mention they’re now excluding people like me with VSS who already live in a duller greyish and grainy world, and now our work app has had to take a stab at us, too.
I’m in the same boat. Most likely will switch to Teamwork if they don’t revert this in a few days. I just can’t be squinting at my screen endlessly before working - it’s not productive
I am really not a fan of the color change. I went from being excited to go to Asana every morning to dreading it now. We all loved how bright the colors were. It immediately put us in a good mood! Color theory is real. My team is continually complaining about the change.
I would love if you could give us the option in the settings to choose the colorways our dash displays.
Not a fan of the muted colors on a permanent basis… I love the idea of having 2 or 3 different color schemes where users can choose their preference. Please do not make this change permanent without the option to revert.
I don’t like the new colors. While I had issues with the old color palette, it was much easier to distinguish colors from one another. I thought my eyes were blurry and deceiving me this morning when I opened Asana and everything looks as if there is a dark gray filter over it. Certainly not as easy to distinguish projects, tags, and custom drop-down field values with the new colors. I’d love to see the ability to choose a custom color palette, but if that’s not an option then at least the ability to select between two themes (vibrant and dull) would be much appreciated.
So…in the midst of needing to make major updates to improve functionality and workflow, THIS is what Asana chooses to prioritize for its development team?! Great project management…
I also HATE the new color scheme. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but looking at it now, it’s just awful. I actually find it more difficult to read. I also agree with some of the other commentators - it feels like someone turned down the vibrancy on my monitor. Just terrible…
Really really hard to see, please consider having a bold color option.
I really dislike the new color scheme. UX is greatly diminished - please change back! It is hard to distinguish between projects.
Please allow us to choose our own colors! I know you had a lot of complaints last year when you added the more vibrant colors, but I loved them. This new color palette is awful. I am tint-blind and many of them are too similar to one another for me to be able to easily distinguish them from one another.
I mark each project with its own color so when I look at my calendar, I can quickly scan for the tasks that day that are related to the same project. Now, it’s difficult for me to differentiate them. So, you’ve just reduced the usability of the system for me.
Even with the color-blind mode enabled, everything just looks dull. The vibrant colors were a positive thing for me as I looked at my to-do list each day.
Please give us the choice to go back to the VIBRANT COLORS! We are having a hard time doing any work today due to the psychological impact of this tragic pastel debacle!
Agreed - these colors all blend into each other - really dislike this, the urgency in the red and green is completely gone now… Please bring back the other colors or give us the option to be muted or vibrant.
My team and I first noticed the change yesterday. I thought it was an error and would be resolved, rather than rolling out a new, muted color scheme. Speaking for myself, I am not a fan. While the number of colors could be visually obnoxious, it did at least allow for one’s eye to immediately locate a sought after color, for expediency. The new colors are too closely related for my tastes and it slows down my ability to search the page at an instant glance, and personally it creates a frustration for me when swapping between Asana and anything else where color vibrancy has remained unchanged. While I will adjust in time, it’s still annoying, and I would prefer the option to choose between the previous and new versions.
100%
Did the colors change in the application UI? I thought my eyes were off so I refreshed another tab I had open and the brightness left the page leaving an sepia toned look that isn’t as engaging or easy to distinguish between the colors we use for different groups / teams / epics.
Hi @anon13627270, we have recently updated our color palette, you can find all details about this update in our announcement here: New colors coming to Asana!. I’ve also merged your post with the main thread to centralize feedback.
