I have some colleagues at our company who suffer from attention deficit. They need to work on specific projects without any distractions. However, having all assigned tasks appear in “My Tasks” is causing them problems. Therefore, I request that a new feature, “Filter by Project(s),” be added to the “My Tasks” filters. This will allow them to view only the tasks related to the project they are currently working on.
Hi @Tim_Rueb
I added my vote.
A workaround is to create a dynamic view in each project and save it as My Tasks for this project.
This will then only show the users tasks for that project.
This would be extremely helpful for me, an I don’t have ADD or ADHD. It’s just a critical filter. Thanks for requesting it in the forum!
ADHD homie checking in - this would be so so helpful. I currently get newsletter submissions as “tasks” and it completely clogs up my tasks list unnecessarily. Makes it difficult to parse out upcoming tasks that I actually need to focus/action on.
Current workaround is to convert these newsletter submissions to ‘approvals’ and then filter out approvals from my task list (I’m never an approver so this doesn’t affect my workflow, and our current setup makes it so when I mark something as needing approval in certain projects, they automatically get reassigned to the approving manager).
Alternatively, adding a ‘progress’ status specific to newsletter subs would be an option, but progress statuses have been locked by management to create consistent process across the department.
Long story short, filtering by project would be immensely helpful, esp in instances where there are several tasks belonging to a specific project assigned (holistic view of workload for a given project).
This would be very useful for us despite the sarcastic “attention deficit” comment. We use Asana not just for projects, but also as an IT Helpdesk for our organisation. Having no ability to differentiate between projects and helpdesk tickets makes “My Tasks” a huge mess for us.
Note: Not a solution but marked as such to elevate a key reply
Workaround to consider in the meantime until/if this request is addressed:
If you’re on a paid plan, in the project add an org-library single-select custom field like “Task Type” and set it to an identifying value (like “Newsletter”) manually or with automatically with a rule (if available). Whoever wants to filter/sort/group based on that field (instead of by Project which isn’t currently available), add this field to your My Tasks and filter away!
Thanks,
Larry
It’s wild that this isn’t already a feature - it is so badly needed. Laborious work arounds are simply not a solution to this issue - let us filter our data!
Garrett from Asana here! As a Group PM Lead, I both own Asana’s A11y program (so I deeply care about us being more neurodivergent friendly) as well as our core project management features (Projects, Tasks, Subtasks etc). I’ve both flagged this to my team and attached to related roadmap Tasks.
