Move to section and prevent rules from running

Sometimes we muck things up, right?

So we’ve completed a task but need to mark it as not complete and move it back to a different section – but that section has rules that add subtasks (which would then be duplicitous).

Is there a hotkey to be able to place something in a section that has a rule WITHOUT triggering that rule?

Right now, when this happens we just have to manually delete the duplicate subtasks and apologize to the person --would love to avoid that in the future…

As your question seems unrelated to Suggestion: "Run Rules Now" button I’ve turned this into a new topic.

A couple of options to accomplish this:

  1. Pause the rule, move the task, enable the rule.
  2. For more frequent use you could prevent this by way of a custom field prevent rules from running, add the option yes and add the criteria that this field is empty for the rules to run. Another way to implement this is to have the first branch of the rule check for if it is set to yes then have the only action be to set the field to blank again.

Yes, let’s please move this to #product-feedback. While the other options are viable, they’re additional steps and not conducive to a streamlined workflow. :slight_smile:
