More Group by date options: Day, Week, Month, Quarter, and Year

I’d love to see more date options in the Group by menu, including:

  • Day

  • Week

  • Month

  • Quarter

  • Year

This would make date-based views much more useful for planning, reporting, and reviewing work at different levels. Right now, users often need extra custom fields or workarounds just to group tasks in a more practical way.

For example, teams may want to group work by week for short-term planning, month for campaigns, or quarter for higher-level reviews.

I think this would be a simple but very valuable improvement to the grouping experience.

Good request, @Esteban_Giannini, and I just added my vote, but can you clarify slightly–do you mean just Due date, or also Start date (that would be my preference–both Start and Due date for these), or all five dates currently shown in the project’s Group by dropdown?

I would say all date fields, including custom date fields. It would be great to keep the experience consistent across them, so users can group any date field by day, week, month, quarter, or year in the same way.

You sold me; agree. And I had failed to include custom date fields.

There will have to be some kind of hierarchy in the menu to accommodate all those, but that’s definitely not a reason to avoid it.
