milestones

within our projects, our milestones are over a month rather than a specific date, is there a way to show this in asana without it being a task?

Hi @Sam_Sayer1 , it sounds like what you mean as ‘milestones’, in Asana they are considered as ‘Goals’.

If you are on the Advanced plan or above, you might be better off using the Goals feature instead.

Love the question @Sam_Sayer1 and I believe @Richard_Sather’s answer is the best one. Milestones are a specific task type that has only a due date and not a due date range. If you don’t want to use goals you can try working with custom task types. Hope this helps.

I’d add that that for a milestone it does make sense that it doesn’t have a start date, as it is a desired state that is either achieved or it isn’t.

Good practice would be to name them as a certain state of things, that is considered true when completed, or false when incomplete. Like:

  • Campaign live
  • Venue confirmed
  • Prototype ready

If you have work that is required to achieve this milestone, you can use dependencies to indicate the relationship.
