Is it possible to limit a search in Asana to only task titles?
I don’t think so. I’ve never seen anything like it and current filters don’t seem to have that option.
@Bastien_Siebman is correct here. At the moment it is no possible to limit a search to Task Titles only but I’ve moved this thread to the #productfeedback to allow you and other Forum Members to advocate for this request. I have slightly modified the title to make it more discoverable. I hope that’s ok!
Have a great Friday!
Thank you @Natalia
My scenario for asking is that we had a task a while ago about porting a server to https instead of http. We couldn’t remember which server, but the task had https in the title (which is rare in our case). A search for ‘https’ returned all tasks with web links in the description …
Hi @jaknudsen! Y totally get it!
Have you tried, in this case, to use all the filters possible in the Advanced Search?
Do you remember who created the task? If you were following that task? In which project was it nested? The approximated date that it was created? Using all the information you remember may help you improve and reduce your search results.
I hope this helps! Have a great Monday!
@jaknudsen, If you have any way to somewhat limit the results with Advanced Search filters, I’ve used this trick in this past:
- Search with those filters (e.g., maybe you know it’s an incomplete task, within some date range).
- Scroll the results to make sure you’ve reached the end (don’t look, just scroll).
- Use the browser’s Find (Ctrl-F) to look for https; because only the titles are showing, you’ll only be searching in the titles not the descriptions!
Hope that might help, but I agree the additional search feature is helpful and I upvoted.
Thanks for some great tips, @lpb!
