Is there a way to update an existing task or file using multiple forms?

This would be used for travel. One form to submit estimates and a second form to input actual expenses. Is there any way to tie these together and/or update a single file/task?

Hi @Jeremy_Long - great question… but unfortunately not with Asana natively, though it is something I hope they’ll enable eventually.

In the meantime, if it’s mission-critical:
This can be accomplished with Zapier, Make, or other third-party automation tools.

If you’d like to do it on your own or you know someone with Zapier experience:

  1. Design your 2nd form with a text field that says “Task ID” or “task URL”… or you can use any other matching ID.
  2. Use the “Update Task” zapier module or Asana API call. Find the task using the task ID.
  3. Map the 2nd form answers to the first task.

That’s a brief, high-level, overly simplified description of what to do. But, hopefully it gives you an idea of how it’d be done.

My team does these as a custom automation with Zapier. Let us know if you’d like to book with us to set this up for you.
