To answer your questions:

1. No, but Timeline view does.
2. The critical path seems to work from the first to the last task in the project. Linking them all with dependencies should show you the critical path per section. A good method is to have a milestone as the first task of a section (eg. Start Stage B) and another milestone for the last task in a section (i.e Complete Stage B). That would make the critical path between sections stand out better. And make sure you link the End milstone to the next sections Start milestone.
3. No, but you can have tasks inline in Timeline view.
4. & 5. these could be potentially added as follw up updates. Best to create posts in the Product Feedback category

Please add “Filter, Sort, Group” to the explanation of “Gantt view” in the Help Center.

It doesn’t seem to be there at the moment.
