Include Project Creation Date in Portfolio export

Asana and similar software usually include creation dates in data exports. However, this critical data point is missing when exporting project lists from a portfolio. This date is essential for project management, tracking team deliverables, and system administration. Including it in portfolio exports would significantly improve reporting and analysis capabilities.

Hey Bruno,

As a workaround, you can add a custom field in the Portfolio view. It does require some manual effort upfront, but once the data is entered, it should export cleanly and give you the data points you need.

On a related note, you might consider using the project start date as your metric instead. If you’re already tracking project start and end dates, it could save you the extra step of manual input. Based on my experience, I find the start date more insightful since I sometimes set up projects well before any actual work begins or before they’re even approved.

Don’t forget to click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the Vote button; that’s the quickest and most effective way to express your support for a request.

Thanks,

Hi Andy,
thank you very much for taking the time.

About creating a custom field is a great idea, but does not apply to my team, as projects can be assigned to the portfolio latter, additionally I am looking for something that does not require manual effort from the team. I did look for custom field + formula, but we don’t have a formula to automatically provide the creation date

Start date is helpfull to track the project lead time, and I’ve been using, on this scenario I want to track the projects that are in “stand by”, so waiting for start date.

Please let me know in case you have additional ideas based on these inputs

Thank you very much!
