Inbox Zero not cool anymore for emails, but necessary for Asana?

I might be getting hate mail about this at some point. Am I talking too much about Inbox Zero?

I really believe it’s the key. But I’m seeing more posts and podcasts saying Inbox Zero is the wrong fight—that you should just use AI to triage everything and stop trying to answer everything and everyone.

That might be true for email. But I don’t think it’s true for Asana.

I think you should make sure you don’t receive stuff you don’t want to receive. Yes, Asana is missing a few features that still make you get things you can’t opt out of. But overall, if you opt out of most discussions, if you accept not to control everything, if you trust your team and set things up correctly, you shouldn’t be getting too many notifications.

You might still spend an hour a day triaging. But that also means you’re aware of what your team is working on, and you’re giving them the answers they were seeking.

Let me know your thoughts. I’d love to debate this with someone who feels completely overwhelmed and understand why they can’t find their way to the bottom of the inbox.

As I wrote here, I think the inbox is surprisingly important.
