For 2024, we conducted an evaluation of asana usage within our company. It became clear that the biggest weakness in our usage lies with the inbox. During the implementation of asana in the company with the help of Bridgeflow, we were advised to use as few tools as possible. The goal is for all internal communication to transition completely to asana. However, we lack certain features to make our work more organized and to quickly locate messages.
Currently, there is no good solution for important internal messages that establish rules and structures, plan deployments, or facilitate ongoing discussions. A simple bookmarking system is insufficient for us. We are too accustomed to using Outlook, where we can categorize messages thematically into folders and have quick search functionality available for messages based on recipient and topic.
For the asana inbox, we would like features that significantly enhance the clarity of the inbox beyond the current filtering and sorting options. For example, different bookmark colors that can be individually named or customizable tags to assign to messages, similar to how custom fields work. Alternatively, customizable inbox folders could also be a solution. Having 3 to 5 folders would be sufficient and very helpful.
In general, there needs to be a significant improvement in the clarity of the inbox; otherwise, we will have to move our internal communication back to another tool.
