Improved Active Filtering & Sorting in Asana Mobile “My Tasks” View

Requesting enhancements to the Asana mobile “My Tasks” experience to improve task visibility and navigation efficiency for users managing a large number of projects.

Currently, the only workable mobile configuration requires grouping tasks by Project and then sorting by Due Date. However, the experience still surfaces completed, inactive, or empty projects, resulting in excessive scrolling through projects with zero actionable items.

Requested enhancements:

  • Ability to filter the “My Tasks” view to display only active projects with open tasks

  • Automatically hide completed/inactive/empty projects from the mobile task list

  • Maintain project grouping in alphabetical order for easier scanning/navigation

  • Within each active project grouping, continue sorting tasks by due date

  • Optional setting to collapse inactive or empty projects by default

Preferred Mobile Experience:
Projects displayed alphabetically → active/open projects only → tasks within each project sorted by due date.

Business/User Impact:
For users overseeing many concurrent cross-functional initiatives, the current mobile experience creates unnecessary visual clutter and slows task prioritization. Improved filtering and sorting controls would significantly enhance usability, reduce scrolling fatigue, and create a more efficient workflow for active task management on mobile devices.
