Ignore emojis when sorting projects alphabetically

Important note: To help us resolve your issue as quickly as possible, please ensure to fill out all the sections below. Do not share any private information such as email addresses or phone numbers - This is a public Forum!

Briefly describe (1-2 sentences) the Bug you’re experiencing:
When using the sort by alphabetical in the Projects or Teams sections of the sidebar, the listings are not in alphabetical if the projects, portfolios or teams names contain an emoji, particularly as a prefix. We all know how much we love emojis in Asana so it would be great if this functionality is fixed, simply by ignoring any emoji characters.

Steps to reproduce:
Click on the ‘Project’ or ‘Teams’ menu button in the sidebar, click on Alphabetical.
Note the order of items is not correct when they include emojis.

Browser version:
Tried several, same issue.

What version of Asana are you using (Basic/Premium/Business/Enterprise)?
Same issue, regardless of tier.

Hi @Richard_Sather, sorry to hear that the issue is back. I’ve reached out to our Developers again and hope they can implement a fix soon. Thanks for flagging this!

Hi @Richard_Sather, I have received an update from our developers, and they have confirmed that the current behavior sorts the emojis based on their unicode value, which is after most other characters. They have also informed me that they are planning to change this behavior in the future so that the emojis are ignored during sorting. However, I they are unfortunately not able to share an exact ETA, as they won’t be able to include this change in our short-term roadmap at the moment.

Apologies for the trouble! I’ll move this thread to our Product Feedback section for now.
