We are trying to replace Slack with Asana for internal conversations -
If a conversation is around a task, it’s easy!
However, sometimes we have conversations related to a project, but not a task. In this case, we are thinking we can use messages.
HOWEVER - unless you send a message to an entire time, it doesn’t stay in your messages. If you send just a 1-1 message to someone it shows up in the inbox, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere in the project. Where does it go from the inbox and how can we can track of this?
@Lindsay16 - you can send messages from the “Messages” tab of a project (it will then always be visible there) or you can use the create+ button and send it to the project (same outcome, different entry point).
That posts the message in that project for everyone to interact with. If you’re removing the Project from the To: field, you’re no longer sending a message to that project, so it won’t appear there. It’s similar logic to posting in a slack channel vs. DMing someone (message to project, message to person).
@Stephen_Li is exactly right. That’s how to send a message to all project members.
To clarify a little more, @Lindsay16 - you cannot currently send a 1-1 message from a project. It will be accessible by all members of the project. If the project name is in the TO: field, all project members can see it. And, all who have “Project Message” notifications turned on will be notified.
