How do you handle subtask due dates relative to the main task’s due date in templates?

Hi everyone! :waving_hand:

I’m trying to streamline our email campaign workflow using task templates in Asana. Ideally, I’d like to set subtask due dates based on the main task’s due date (which is the email send date). For example:

  • Write copy → 3–4 weeks before send date
  • Design graphics → 2.5–3 weeks before
  • Build in HubSpot → 2 weeks before
  • Approvals → 1.5 weeks before
  • Final review → 1 week before
  • Schedule/send → on the due date

But when I try to set subtask due dates in the template, Asana only lets me choose “X days after task is created,” not relative to the due date. This doesn’t work well for scheduled emails that are planned far in advance.

Has anyone found a good workaround for this?
Do you use naming conventions, manual scheduling, or third-party tools to solve this?

Would love to hear how others are handling this kind of timeline-based workflow. Thanks in advance!

Hello @Alyssa_Podevin - I am going to link a few different forum links that have discussed this workflow. Hopefully this can help spark some ideas on how to approach this!
