I keep adding URLs and when the URL is part of a URL scheme rather than a web URL like https://
, Asana alters the URL, breaking it.
Example:
The following URL is valid on my machine and when clicked directs to a particular document in DEVONthink.
x-devonthink-item://4ECB0185-3053-4C40-B98E-F1BACC6CED49
Asana keeps changing the URL to
https://x-devonthink-item//4ECB0185-3053-4C40-B98E-F1BACC6CED49
That is not correct and is thus rendered non-functional.
The answer I got is the good folks at Asana consider users putting file paths as comments to tasks to be a security risk and they prevent us from doing exactly what you and I want to do on purpose.
I could see allowing folks to restrict what paths could be posted to exclude executables or certain drives, but I can’t see any reason not to be able to post a link to a shared drive that is used for document storage only in the context of a task.
I’d really like to see this fixed.
As a CIO, I’d rather not have my software provider decide they’ll be my security nanny in areas like this but that’s what they told me.
