We have about 20 projects running at any given moment. I don’t have tasks assigned to me in all of those projects, but keeping track of the dates and upcoming launches is vital for me.
Team Calendar view is out of the question because it doesn’t have the “Week View” option and I cannot filter out the mountains of items that I don’t care to see.
The ideal sceanrio would be to make a new calendar, have a checklist with the open projects I’m a part of so that Ic an add them to one calendar view (like in Google Calendar) and then view that calendar privately.
IS there any way to do this or something similar? Most answers to questions like this involve a workaround that doesn’t have the functionality I need.
I want to simply add the projects that matter to me to my own calendar regardless of what is assigned to me.
If you only need to see those tasks that are assigned to you, I think the My Tasks > Calendar tab would be your best bet.
Otherwise, the only built-in way to see the calendars of multiple projects is if they are in the same team and you’ve ruled out that view already.
That would leave multi-homing (adding to multiple projects) tasks, perhaps with rules, meaning you could create an All Calendar projects to your specifications, but it requires keeping tasks properly homed there.
You can create a custom search and tasks in calendar view that way. If the projects share similar custom fields you can filter by those custom fields to pull tasks out. It does NOT have the week view like “My Tasks” does, but it will give you more control over what you see vs. Team view.
You can put the projects you need to see in a portfolio and create the search using the portfolio.
Then you can save the search so that you don’t have to re-enter the parameters all of the time.
