Personally i think that the automatic yellow color that are applied to tasks in “today”, are a bit much. It seems unnecessary to further highlight them. They are already under a specifik header, so there is really no need. A more elegant solution could be to make the whole “today” “area” a different color.
I know its a small thing, but what do you guys think?
I just opened my laptop at home, and i immediately noticed that the yellow color was not there!! What, is it just my laptop, or did you guys @Alexis remove it?
@Peter_Skjoldager I see a green color for today, actually. The yellow you saw may have been a result of some testing going on. Sounds like you’re in luck!
Hi @Peter_Skjoldager and thank you for sharing that screenshot, browser and OS details, super helpful for us to debug. I’m a product manager here, and that highlighting you’re experiencing is not intended, we will investigate what’s going on. Thanks!
Hi! Currently, if a task is due Today or Tomorrow, the due date is a green color. However, this makes it difficult to see at a quick glance which tasks are due today (since all due dates are green) compared to which tasks are due tomorrow, which are also green. Only when tasks are overdue do they turn a different color (red), which is too late!
It would be great to have Asana automatically color the due date of a task that is due Today as yellow, and keep the other current coloring convention for other due dates: green for due Tomorrow and red for overdue. I believe this would make sense as yellow would essentially mean something like “Caution, this tasks due today and may become overdue!”
I’ve added a mockup of what a Today task would look like in yellow! Much easier to distinguish between a task due today versus a task due tomorrow:
@benbradley - I could get on board with this as long as they use one of their color variables that plays nice with light mode as well.
Most of their current yellows wouldn’t contrast well without leaning more toward a brown. One of their prototype colors may work, though. Here’s what their var(--color-customization-yellow-icon-inverse-prototype) would look like:
Though, we make everyone use our custom styles for Asana and set the color property for the .DueDate--soon class to one of their blue variables: var(--color-selected-background-strong).
Also I don’t feel like @benbradley’s request is exactly the same as this thread it was merged into.
Additionally I found some other threads - a few of which have actually been unlisted, I guess due to their being quite old - for similar requests.
As a result, I took the liberty of renaming this thread to what I think people are trying to get at. I think the focus should be not on a specific color - that needs to take into account light/dark mode, accessibility standards, existing color scheme usage in the product, etc etc - but what people would like is to distinguish Today from Tomorrow. (That’s my take on this request, anyway. Y’all can let me know if I misjudged it.)
