Guest are seen as private user, even inside the same team or same project

Hello,

since this morning, Guests in my organization are seeing each other as private user.
Impossible to find them or assign them tasks.

Strangely enough, older guest accounts can see other old guests, but not the new one created since Sunday.

I did a test this morning and invited myself as a guest in my organization.

Inside the team: 100% of other guest are private users.
Inside this team project: same, all guest appears to me as private user.

It was working perfectly yesterday so something happened overnight.
And I need my guest user inside the same team or project to be able to see each other and assign tasks to each other.

Itā€™s highly disruptive in our workflow.

Hi @Fonzie, welcome to the community forum and thanks for your report!

In order to investigate this further, could you please confirm the name of the team or project in which both users are members and see each other as Private users?

Sorry for the trouble and Iā€™m looking forward to your reply.

Hi,

I have a question about private users. Some of our members suddenly have become a private user, but they are all part of the same team and they were always able to see all names.

Does someone has any idea why they have become private users? And how can we change them into members again so that they can see all names?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Stephanie_Maljaars, thanks for reaching out!

For context, if two people are seeing each other as a ā€œPrivate Userā€, they are both Guests. If Guests see this, that means they are not working in either the same team or project together. Can you confirm if both Guests are working on the same team and project? Itā€™ll be very helpful if you can confirm the team or project name.

I just replied to a bug report related to this issue and I merged your report with the main thread to centralize reports. I hope you donā€™t mind!

Looking forward to your reply!

Hello,

Since this morning suddenly it is happening on my Asana account that all the team and project members who even have full access in teams as they can edit it as well and the projects are public as well but still members are seeing each other as private users.
Also, they are not able to see each other while tagging each other in comments. This issue started happening this morning as till yesterday all was OK. Please resolve my issue and tell me what to do? I am using Asana on Google Chrome Version 81.0.4044.129 (Official Build) (64-bit)
For your reference i am attaching screenshot of the issue

Hi @anon4672002, thanks for your report and sorry for the trouble.

We have received similar reports today and we have an existing bug report. Iā€™ve gone ahead and merged your thread with Guest are seen as private user, even inside the same team or same project .

Iā€™ve gone ahead ahead and created a bug to our Development Team. Iā€™ll update this thread as soon as I have more information.

Thanks all for your patience and apologies again for the inconvenience here.

Hi @Emily_Roman
thanks for your swift reply

in my organization, if you check the team " CLICKER > EPICS"
user: ā€œAlexā€ (guest since this morning) and user ā€œGeneralisimusā€ (guest since more than 2 years) see each other as Private user

inside this team, the project ā€œHClicker - Bugsā€
same issue, they both see each other as ā€œprivate userā€

Thank you so much for confirming this information, @Fonzie! Iā€™ve escalated this to our Development Team and they are looking into this. We hope to have an update very shortly!

Hi @Emily_Roman,

Thanks for your quick reply. Both guests are working on the same team and project. The team is called ā€˜planningā€™ and the project name is ā€˜planning MEā€™.

Looking forward to your reply, thanks!

We are having the same issue but also with Members. Lots of members can not see other members - just ā€œPrivate Userā€

Thanks for the extra information @Stephanie_Maljaars! :raised_hands:

@Filip_Otrisal, thanks for reporting this. Iā€™ve added your report to the bug internally. Iā€™ll make sure to update this thread as soon as I have more details from our team and the issue is fixed.

Is this a general problem? I am facing it too as of this morning. I have 7 team members that suddenly appear as private users.

Weā€™re having same issue across all projects where users canā€™t see select other users so are unable to tell whoā€™s working on what.

Hi @Zoran_Ovuka and @Rob_Keyes, thanks for your report and apologies for the inconvenience!

Our team is aware of this issue and they are investigating. Unfortunately, I donā€™t have information about the number of users affected but our engineers are working on a fix. Iā€™ll update this thread once I have more details!

My organization is also facing this issue. It doesnā€™t appear to be reported on the Asana status page. How can we stay updated on the issue? It is halting our ability to collaborate on Asana today

Problem resolved. Thx a bunch!!
