Frustrated and exhausted learning curve. Who has time to do this? Need a consultant or encouragement.

I am trying to learn Asana by diving deep into my personal daily tasks (or checklist) which I set as weekly project with 7 days of subtasks. This has been a disaster. I am confused and about to give up.
I purchased the Starter package and hope to use Asana to manage Recovery Home ministry. We will be applying for a 501c3 and plan on using Asana to:

1. Create an intake application for residency and be notified when an application is submitted and send the applicant verification that their application was received with an explanation of next steps.

2. Create a portal for residents to pay their rent and see their recovery documents and notes.

3. Track volunteer hours (residents are required to volunteer somewhere each month)

4. Prepare list of things that need to be done when Serenity hosts an event from social media, lawn care, food, and expectations.

5. Hold a template for the quarterly newsletter and board report

6. Hold templates for our intake forms and possibly use Asana to allow intake forms to be attached to each resident (project).

7. Send emails to residents when rents are due.

8. Keeping track of house chores and jobs needed to be done around the properties (like fix this or that, or rake leaves, replace furnace filter etc…).

For personal life I am starting to use Asana to:

1. Provide a daily list of health and life goals things to do, like get 10,000 steps per day, work out 3 times per week, sleep goals met?, meditation three times per week.

I wasn’t able to finish this note - it’s taking too long. However, I am using the Personal Life goals and projects to teach me how to use Asana and I am beyond frustrated to the point where I am going to unsubscribe. Daily subtasks are carrying over to the next week and my whole project task screen is a MESS. Maybe I need one on one help? All I know is, how can someone like me who is overwhelmed with things to so spent 20 hours a week trying to learn Asana?

Frustrated and exhausted.

Welcome, @Michael_Halsted, and sorry to hear that.

As Phil kindly replied, I’m a long-time Asana consultant focusing on nonprofits with a heavily discounted nonprofit rate, including a free monthly Asana AMA for nonprofits now in its fifth year.

Feel free to contact me for a free initial session, or another Asana partner.

Thanks,

Larry

Thanks Larry and Phil, I used the partner feature and Asana set me up with a group with Brazil (Brasil) email addresses. Should I be concerned about a language barrier and cultural disconnect?

Hi Mike,

Asana has a lot of depth and the way you structure things from the start really determines whether it stays manageable or turns into chaos.

What you are describing involves forms, automations, templates, and recurring tasks all working together which can get tricky without the right setup.

I help clients get their Asana workspaces organized so they can focus on actual work instead of fighting the tool. If you want help getting it sorted, feel free to reach out
