'Twas back at a startup, the year 2022, When I became “the Asana expert" the whole office knew. I solved every issue with confidence and flair. Until one day I hit problems beyond my repair…
I’ll admit, there was something enticing about being the “go-to” Asana person. There wasn’t an issue the team had that I couldn’t solve… until there was. Being the only Power User can be lonely, and it can be hard to innovate in a vacuum.
When the issues my team was having outpaced my knowledge, I started searching the forum and YouTube to learn about different ways to use the platform and read how others were solving their roadblocks. This may be a little contradictory, but forums were kind of hit or miss for me. Response time could vary, and you’re usually hearing from the same voices again and again (guilty!). Somewhere in my scouring, I learned about the Asana Ambassador program.
I remember booting up the Ambassador Slack for the first time, and my eyes turned into that star-eyed emoji guy
. So much troubleshooting, so many unique use cases, loads of incredibly relatable anecdotes. Even if it wasn’t an issue I’d ever encountered before, I found myself discovering new solutions to little friction points I didn’t even know had fixes.
We’re living in a day and age where a lot is expected of us, and on top of it all there’s this societal pressure to create content about everything we do. I’m now privileged to be my own boss, but even without a corporate overlord to report to, it can be easy to fall into a scarcity mindset. Not enough time, not enough resources, who wants to hear from me anyway? But when I think about all of the connections I’ve made just by being an Ambassador, spending a few minutes a week in the Forums or Slack is invaluable.
You never know who is struggling with the very thing you’ve already solved. Even now, nearly four years later, I rely on this community when I’m facing a problem I just can’t crack. Someone always asks a question I haven’t considered or shares a use case I haven’t seen.
If you’ve been lurking but are not yet part of the program, you can learn more and apply through the Asana Academy Ambassador page and this Forum Post.
For those already in the Ambassador community, there are brand-new LinkedIn assets available to help you put yourself out there. It’s a great way to signal to your network that you’re part of this collaborative community and make it easier for others who need Asana help to find you.
If you’re an Asana Ambassador, here’s how to find the new assets directly in Asanaverse:
- Log in to Asanaverse
- On your sidebar, click the project “Ambassador Onboarding Kit & Resources”
- Go to the column “Badges and social media materials”
- Scroll down to the task “
Images to use for LinkedIn”
Important note: access to Asanaverse requires being part of the Ambassador Program, so you’ll need to become an Ambassador first.
The Community team is also working on new Ambassador anniversary badges for the Forum, with more surprises coming in 2026.
So here’s to the Ambassadors, sharing with glee, Building knowledge together— Community. May your workflows be smooth and your projects on-time, empty My Tasks for all, and to all a good night! ![]()
