I am opening this to ask for a feature to find and replace a string in the name of selected tasks or subtasks, or potentially across an entire project.
I found this long-running thread which was very confusing because it starts off with people wanting some basic text replacement options in order to make customizing projects from templates, etc. that much easier …But then it gets closed late last year because a completely different “Find & replace assignees” feature is launched…???
And then there is this thread which has been open since 2016 but wasn’t put in the “Product Feedback” area so I guess has been overlooked?
Also, yes, I know about this third-party option and also about the ability to use a rule to append/prepend text onto task names:
The above rule does not allow for any changes to a task’s existing name however, and string replacement should be a feature Asana offers in-house without needing third-party authorization to access Asana data.
PS - Yes, I also know about the “Use AI” option that can somewhat accomplish this via a rule, albeit in an inflexible and non-deterministic manner. However, in no universe should we need to jump through those hoops and burn AI credits just to accomplish a find and replace.
