Feature Request Title:
Enable automation rules to update multiple related tasks (subtasks, dependencies, or filtered tasks)
Description:
I need the ability to use automation rules to update multiple tasks at once, particularly subtasks under a parent task or tasks that match certain criteria.
My Use Case:
I’m tracking projects in a calendar. Projects start with temporary codes like “09-YY” before approval, then get updated to their final code like “09-26” once approved (about 2/3 through the project timeline).
I create multiple tasks in my calendar for each project’s deadlines. When a project code changes from “09-YY” to “09-26”, I need to update that code across all related tasks. Currently, I have to manually find and update each task individually.
What I’d Like:
The ability to create a rule that says: “When a parent task name is updated, automatically update all subtask names” or “When a task name changes, update all tasks in this project that contain the old naming pattern.”
Why This Matters:
This would save significant time when managing projects with evolving naming conventions and reduce errors from missed updates. It would make Asana much more powerful for tracking interconnected work that shares common identifiers.
Current Workaround:
Manual updates or multi-select, which is time-consuming and error-prone.
(PS: The “Create with AI” tool recommended that I suggest this and format it this way when it couldn’t help me do this myself. Pretty nice, Asana!)
