I have created a conference planning template with rules that change the due dates for each section once the final deadline (eg the conference start date) is entered but in order for this to work I am manually inputting the deadline field for every task which is very time consuming - how can I autopopulate so every tasks ‘deadline’ field is the same?
Are you trying to do this in the project template or in a project? If in a project, you can multi-select multiple tasks, then set the date for one of those tasks and it will set it for all of the selected tasks.
Unfortunately this same thing doesn’t work in a project template.
I have created a conference planning template with rules to change the due dates for tasks based on the deadline (which is conference start date). I only want to input this once for each conference not for every task - but my rules only work when the deadline field in every task is populated. How can I auto populate the fields?
@Charlotte_Graham - I take it this “deadline” is currently a custom date field? Your use case sounds tailor-made for a project template with due dates set relative(before) a fixed date, which you would enter when creating the project. This then becomes the project due date and all tasks are set relative to it. Have you already tried that?
@Charlotte_Graham FYI I merged the two topics where you’ve asked this question into one topic. You have a few replies; you can let us know if either of us are on the right track…
Thanks I didn’t know if the first post had worked - I’ve never done one before!
It worked! Thank you so much! It’s a template of my own creation - I plan to duplicate and rename it for each conference we run, giving editing permissions only to the duplicates. I’ll make a note for the users that they should multi select to save time on the deadline field.
I haven’t tried that - I will for my next templates!
