Dashboard - Countdown of Days Widget

Good day everyone!

I am trying to create a Widget, that will countdown the days, weeks, months, until the “End Date” of a project / task.

Does a Widget exist?

If not, can I have advice and / or guidance on how this can be created.

Many thanks!

Stephen

Hello @Stephen_Shakeshaft - This is not something that Asana currently has but I will move this post to our English Forum > Product Feedback section so users can vote on it.

@Stephen_Shakeshaft Hey! I think this is something you can accomplish with a portfolio, a custom field and dashboards, and the setup is pretty straightforward:

  1. Create a portfolio where all your projects will live.

  2. Add a formula custom field (for example, call it Countdown) with the formula:

“Due Date - Today” - This will show the number of days remaining.

  3. You’ll see the Countdown field right from the Portfolio list view.

From here, you have some options but I will list out two of them:

  • Option 1: Create a dashboard within the portfolio. Use a bar chart with projects on the X-axis and the Countdown value on the Y-axis.

  • Option 2: Create a separate dashboard from Reporting. Use number charts filtered by specific projects, and select the Countdown custom field.

I tested this, and it works well. You could apply a similar process for Tasks in a project. Let me know if it solves your issue!

I am having a few troubles in getting to show…

Do you have any further guidance on getting these to show on the Dashboard?

Many thanks for your help!

@Stephen_Shakeshaft - Sorry for the delay on this! Here’s a GIF showing how I set up the custom field “Countdown.” You can also create a dashboard with different charts, either displaying all project countdowns together or filtering them to show individual charts per project. Let me know if you’d like any extra help setting this up!
