Custom Fields: URL as Text & @mention

We are currently using several custom text fields to store URL hyperlinks. While it is great that the text field will convert the full URL path text into a clickable link, it is not ideal. URLs can be long and require multiple lines of text, which clutters the interface and takes up unnecessary space on views.

Why do websites use buttons and shortened text labels for hyperlink navigation? It’s user friendly, and keeps the interface functional and visually uncluttered. It would be great to add a new button / hyperlink custom field type that allows users to set the hyperlink destination in the background, with a simplified text label for the interface…similar to how links and buttons are formatted using HTML on a typical website. Thank you!
