Comment on multiple tasks

I would like to be able to select a series of tasks, tab+C and add the same comment to them all.

This would be useful having just created template tasks, I want to add a reminder to all the tasks that have been created. All annual review tasks are already created with a month custom field and we assign tasks as they fall due.

Hi @anon43779106, welcome to the Asana Community Forum! As it stands, itā€™s currently not possible to send one comment to multiple tasks at the same time.

If you want to add a reminder for tasks when its due date is approaching or when a specific custom field is selected. I recommend you checking out our feature ā€œRulesā€. In this case, you can set a rule that automatically adds a comment to a task when the task is approaching a specific due date. You can find more details in our announcement here: New triggers for Rules: ā€œDue date is approachingā€ and ā€œTask is Overdueā€

No that doesnā€™t help as weā€™re Premium rather than Enterprise or Business.

I need the instructions for creating a template task and merging it into the existing tasks (hundreds) to be visible at the time the tasks are assigned.

While writing this reply Iā€™ve realised I can create a task called ā€˜Create template task and merge it into your existing taskā€™ and it contains instructions to help make sure users donā€™t merge the wrong way around. It is possible to multi-select tasks and mark them as dependent on the above.

I have a few hundreds of QA tasks in where I need to paste exactly the same comment to all. It would be great if we can multi-select with a limit of at least 50 tasks at a time. Itā€™ll be better than nothing. When needing to convey the information to multiple selected tasks by the hundreds, it can feel quite bit overwhelming with the handful of manual work, not including that in testing planning, the time estimates and the time durations metrics fall out of balance with the amount of bandwidth being used of man power in place. The multi-select function is a function that many platforms have had for many years now. I hope that sometime soon, this can be part of your roadmap. Thank you !

Not sure why you canā€™t multi select? Can you write your comment in a task and make your tasks blocked by that task?

Apologies if I mis-communicated. I did not say I can not multi-select. My request is, while multi-selecting, we are not able to comment to all selected at the same time when they all require the very same comment. It would be nice to be able to place 1 comment and feed all those selected (up to 50). It becomes quite frustrating to have to comment on 1 task at a time, when 50+ task may need the very exact comment. Currently, we can only comment on one task at a time.

Chiming in to say I have the exact same need as Natalia and would love the ability to apply a single comment against multiple tasks in one go.

Still would find this very valuable. My use case is this:

We are heavy users of templates to drive particular employee onboarding workflows. The tasks on these workflows are spread across multiple teams, with our people team needing specific detail about task completions.

In my own personal task view, I frequently get a batch of these tasks when a new employee cohort rolls in. For many tasks, I am performing a common task against the group, at once, and want to communicate that the appropriate action was taken for each employee.

So, I have a standard, for each person in the batch message I would like to apply all at once. But itā€™s unique, for each new batch - so a human is required to provide the specifics. Imagine "user was granted access to the 2023-Jun-5 onboarding cohort folder (link to folder: https://blahblahblah).

Right now, I basically craft the message, put it on the clipboard, and then click through each task, copy/pasting, and marking complete. I would love to be able to grab all 20-30 tasks and mass-comment, mass mark-complete the group.

Hi hereā€™s a workaround I found.

  1. Create a section in your project.
  2. Add rule to your section
  3. Select add comment for your section upon dragging in the task
  4. Drag in your tasks all at once
  5. Move them back and you should have something like this:

Note that it shows as Asana but should suffice for some purposes

I have the same requirements. We use Asana to manage leads, I would like to have the option to select multiple leads and comment ā€œEmailed intro emailā€ or something like that instead of doing it 1 at a time. It seems like this is a requirement since early 2021 and Asana hasnā€™t come up with a feature for it which is disappointing.
