Cannot type the letter "G" into the Asana global search bar.

My organization works with a client whose name begins with “G”. We identify all of this client’s work (tasks, projects, etc.) such that the names of nearly every task (dating back to 2020) associated with this client begin with “G”.

Beginning today, 20 March 2026 (03/20/2026), those of us in our organization who work with this client cannot search for tasks associated with this client.

  1. Typing in the global search is immediately deactivated when we type “G” at the beginning of a search.
  2. This issue is happening to multiple users (different IP addresses) on multiple browsers (Firefox and Chrome).
  3. Typing in all other (American English alphabet) letters and numbers works as expected.
  4. Our external and laptop keywords work as anticipated on other websites.
  5. Those with this issue have rebooted our browsers.
  6. I cannot locate a known shortcut or action featuring the letter “G” that would prevent us from typing in the search bar.
  7. The only workaround (which is not sustainable long-term) is typing in the rest of the client identifier, then clicking at the beginning of the search term to type in “G”.
  8. We cannot effectively search by numbers only, as we use numeric identifiers for multiple other clients.

@Kellye_K that’s a WILD bug, haha. I’m so sorry you all are going through that. Out of curiosity, is your organization on Enterprise or Enterprise +? Also, I’m sure you’ve tested this already, but does it also do it when using the Asana app rather than the browser? Also, do you all use the same physical keyboards and if so, any specific keyboard software/drivers?

I know! I was stunned.

We’re on the Starter Plan. I’m not sure what driver each of us is using, but we’re using different hardware. I’m using a cheapie ONN wired USB keyboard; the other coworker who’s most affected by this issue is using a Logitech K350 (wireless, but with USB RF connection).

Gotcha, yes that’s bizarre indeed. If you haven’t already, be sure to put in a support ticket here through the chatbot. There have been a couple instances where I’ve experienced an odd bug or two and it was confirmed by their development team that it was actually isolated to just my organization for some reason, I don’t think that happens often though. If they find out the cause, let us know here because I’m terribly curious.

@Kellye_K,

I agree with @neonrain.club that you should contact Support. But first, make sure it’s not related to a Chrome extension by disabling them all or just seeing if you can reproduce in incognito mode.

Try these troubleshooting steps, then please create a support ticket: see How to contact our Support Team.

Thanks,

Larry

Hey Larry–Normally, I’d try this, but I almost exclusively use Firefox and have been experiencing these issues. (I only tested Chrome in case this was a Firefox issue.) The inability search for terms beginning with “G” is also happening on the updated Asana desktop app.

Same issue here, at work and at home. Chrome, both Windows and Linux. Incognito mode changes nothing. Same in Firefox. Asana Advanced subscription.
