Asana Workflow - notify when a text field is changed

I’m trying to create a workflow that notifies a user when a custom (text) field is changed or altered. From everything I’ve been able to see, the Asana Workflow can read when a single- or multi-select custom field is changed, but for some reason it can’t detect when a text field is changed. Am I missing something obvious? It seems like this should be a really basic/standard thing for workflow.

My specific use-case is that I have created a custom text field called “File Location” where our users paste the filepath of their working files. I want to set up a workflow that notifies me when they have either filled out the field, or the existing string in the field has been changed, but I can’t figure out any way for the Asana Workflow to actually read the custom text fields - it can only enter data into the custom text field.

Any help or tips is appreciated.

WHEN (“File Location” custom field is [changed] or [not empty]) DO THIS (Create subtask).

Welcome to the forum, @Averee_Chaloupka! Unfortunately, I believe that’s not possible natively, but there are 3rd-party solutions you could explore (see @Phil_Seeman’s reply in the linked thread below):

Receive notifications when text field is modified

Hey everyone! My team and I started using Asana recently and we notice that we only receive notifications when a Single select or date field is modified. We would like to receive notifications when any field (regardless of the type of field it is) is modified by someone. Is this possible? For example: Text field is time reference like 09:30. Someone changes it to 10:00 and every member of the project is notified that the time changed from 09:30 to 10:00. Thank you so much!
