Asana duplicate subtask when creating a new project from template

Hi @Thomas_Schreiner, thanks for reaching out!

We currently don’t have immediate plans to launch this option but this is certainly something we’re planning to tackle in the future. Marie shared a workaround that can help you, see more details below:

I’ve gone ahead and merged your thread with the product feedback thread: Asana duplicate subtask when creating a new project from template to consolidate votes. I hope you don’t mind.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Any progress on this? It essentially renders templates unusable if users are using Asana’s subtask feature.

I have created a project template with 5 main tasks and within each task, 2 sub-tasks. While I was very please to see that if I assigned the subtasks into the template, that when the template was used to create a project the subtasks inherited the project value and “appeared” in my project…The issue is Asana then appears to create multiple copies of the subtask (Today it was 4 copies of each subtask). I did see this mentioned in a few posts, but has there been a work around created.

I have the same issue here.
It doesn’t just happen to template, it also happen to copy.
The sub tasks are copies but attached the original task at the same time.
It should attach to the new task or it shouldn’t get copied.

Hi @Lilian_Tao and welcome to the forum,

Yes, I’m afraid this is a known bug; see more on it here:
