Allow for a task to be merged into a recurring task

When using the “merge duplicate tasks” feature, it looks like you cannot merge a task into a recurring task.

I have two problems here:

  1. the reason for “no matches found” is not clear, and it takes a lot of expertise to understand what’s happening. So this will potentially generate support requests and everybody’s going to waste time.
  2. From a use case perspective, it actually makes a lot of sense wanting to do that because if your task has been made redundant by a new recurring routine, you might want to merge your task into it…

This has probably always been the case. I discovered this about a year ago and thought it was also odd.

Don’t love that :sweat_smile: . Fixing recurring tasks holistically is also top on my FY27 things I need to fix list. I don’t technically own recurring tasks but I’ve already made the case to acquire the AoR :joy:
