Add Tab Pinning Feature to Asana Desktop App (macOS/Windows)

As a VP of Operations managing multiple teams across Operations, Project Management, Product Management, Marketing, Communications, Account Management, and Business Development, I rely heavily on the Asana desktop app for macOS to stay organized and efficient.

Feature Request:

  • Add the ability to pin tabs in the Asana desktop app.
  • Allow custom naming of pinned tabs (Ex: Inbox, My Tasks, Marketing)

Current Situation:

The desktop app already supports multiple tabs (which is great!), but there’s no way to pin frequently accessed areas like My Tasks, Inbox, and key projects. Yes, access is made available to these key areas in the side panel, but they override the currently open tab, which interrupts the workflow.

Proposed Solution:

Add a right-click option or pin icon on tabs to keep essential workspaces permanently accessible, similar to browser tab pinning functionality.

Business Value:

  • Faster navigation to critical work areas

  • Reduced cognitive load for executives managing multiple projects

  • Improved productivity for power users who work across many projects daily

Use Case:

As someone who needs quick access to My Tasks, Inbox, and 3-4 key projects throughout the day, pinned tabs would eliminate the need to constantly navigate back to these core areas. Thank you!
