Add a clearly visible ‘Expand all groups / Collapse all groups’ control to grouped List views

Request

Please add a single, clearly discoverable action in the List view toolbar to Expand all groups / Collapse all groups, including every level when multiple Group by fields are applied.

Current experience

In a List view grouped using Group by (for example, a custom field plus a second grouping level), I can expand or collapse each group individually. However, I cannot find one clearly visible control to expand or collapse all groups at once. Looking in Options and hovering over group headers has not exposed the section-style three-dot menu in this view. Manually toggling many groups and subgroups interrupts navigation through a large list.

Why the current guidance is confusing

The March 2026 release notes describe one-click support for sections, groups and subtasks. The earlier bulk expansion request is also marked launched and explicitly mentions groups. I am not claiming that bulk expansion is absent everywhere; the remaining issue is that the UI and guidance do not clearly expose how to use it in Group by views. Guidance based on section actions does not resolve this experience.

Proposed improvement

  • Put a clearly labeled button or action in the view toolbar for Expand all groups / Collapse all groups.
  • Apply it to all groups and nested subgroups in the current grouped List view, including multiple levels of grouping.
  • Document the exact location and scope for Group by views, with an example using custom-field grouping.

This request focuses on discoverability and consistent access to the global control, rather than a keyboard shortcut, saving collapsed states, or Portfolio Timeline behavior.

Beside each section, there are three dots. In the dropdown, you can find the option to expand or collapse groups. I believe this should pretty much cover the requirement you’re referring to.
