Sorting by due date is already available, Maria! Sort by start date is long overdue. Sigh

Wow, incredible that this has been flagged for so long and still no update. Chiming in to add my +1 to please add a Sort by Start Date feature.

I feel like this thread should be closed because Asana is non-responsive for 4+ years and we are shouting into the void. I struggle to understand why such a commonsense feature as the ability to sort by start date is not an out-of-the-box feature available for paid subscribers. I am also confused why Asana has gone radio silent. I am aware of the workarounds but this should be a core function and it appears many users agree (and have been requesting as far back as 2017!).

Asana: Please make this a priority. Having the ability to clearly see WHEN TO START a task can make the difference in making the task in time or not. Just getting notified of the due date is sometimes too late.

Seems kinda ridiculous that this is such an obvious feature (and has been requested by so many and for so long) with nothing from Asana…

Not sure what else needs to be said on this but my team, like many others, would like to understand what we need to be working on today or this week, and without a start-date sort feature our project plans actually deprioritize often the biggest and most important tasks to the very bottom of our view. That’s not helpful and can lead to important work not getting the attention it needs to stay on track.
Ideally, for a “start date” sort, I’d like to have the following logic:
- If no start date exists, sort by Due Date.
- If start date exists, sort by Start Date, then due date.
For example, I would like to see the following 3 tasks in this order.
- Task 1: Start July 11, Due July 20th
- Task 2: Start July 11, Due July 24th
- Task 3: Due July 12th
Super frustrating that the ability to sort by start date is available in the API but not available to users. Decided to cancel my subscription I’ve had for years over lack of progress on this, and look for another project management solution that gives more forward visibility to tasks. It’s a mission critical feature and really sad to see zero progress on this after over five years.
Just gonna revive this thread because clearly, no advance on sorting by start date has happened - unless there has, then please explain how we actually do this? There’s plenty of user-outcry to suggest this would be a great feature, meaning the actual “start date” feature is pretty useless if someone’s going via “My Tasks”.
December 2017 & now December 2022… that’s one heck of a timeline.
@Andy_Welsh Hi there. I am now seeing ability to sort by start date in all my projects and in My Tasks. Woo-hoo! To quote the great Lizzo, “it’s about d**m time!” 
You’re absolutely right, however, it seems locked to only your own tasks - not in search or when viewing someone’s tasks. Still, better than nothing!
