I have found several threads about this, but I haven’t seen any recent conversation. I am attempting to use Asana Goals for an organization that has reporting we are doing over a period of 3 years. This is very common for certain kinds of Grant Workplans and definitely common for Strategic Plans. While Asana Goals will allow me to specify a Start Date and End Date for my Goal for any period of time, the “Time Period” feature is still limited to one year. This means that I cannot use any of the Time Period filtering on a list of Goals. How can I find out if Asana is planning on adding this capability? Also, for those of you who also have this need, can you describe the different things you have been doing to workaround this limitation? I imagine there are some tips and tricks to getting around this. Thanks.
@Tim_Blair_BNPA - Regarding Asana’s plans on adding the capability, Asana doesn’t disclose their far future roadmap; however, they do invite anybody in the Asana Ambassador program to a quarterly webinar to see what’s coming. If you’re interested in getting the more inside scoop on quarterly roadmap plans, you can Become an Ambassador.
But, FYI - to answer your question, Asana has made no public commitments about adding that capability. However, you are always welcome and encouraged to vote for existing feature requests or add new ones in the Product Feedback part of the forum (Product Feedback - Asana Forum).
Possible workarounds:
- Split your goal into annual phases to track it in 3 parts.
- Or set a goal with the time period set to the year it’s due, but still align it to projects/portfolios with this year’s work.
I know none of those are complete or even mostly complete solutions, but just some ideas for how to handle it in the meantime.
Thanks @Bryan_TeamKickstart , I appreciate the reply, and that makes sense. And BTW, I am an Ambassador, so maybe I need to get back up to speed with the quarterly webinars in case there’s anything there that I’ve missed. Thanks for the reply and the possible workarounds.
@Tim_Blair_BNPA - I should have noticed the obvious “Ambassador” badge next to your forum username here.
I hope you find a workaround that works for you and that that feature shows up for us all at some point!
