1 Rule creates duplicate events on Google calendar for 1 task

I set a rule to create Google Calendar event when due date is not empty, and every time an event is created it is duplicated into 2 versions. I can’t find anywhere to resolve this.

Hello @Ha_Le3 , and welcome to the Forum.

I have a few troubleshooting ideas I would like you to try:

  1. Make sure there’s only one rule creating Google Calendar events across anywhere the task lives. If the task is in two projects and both have “when due date is not empty → create Google Calendar event,” you’ll get two events. Also peek at your My tasks rules just in case.

  2. Check for any other automations that might also create events, like Zapier, Make, or the project-level Google Calendar sync. If both a rule and another integration are creating events, you’ll see duplicates.

  3. Open the task’s activity and look for “Asana ran a rule” entries. If you see two executions close together for the same rule, that’s your duplicate. Common trigger gotchas: the rule fires when you first add a due date, then again when you add a time or edit it.

  4. As a quick test, pause one of the suspected rules, create a fresh test task, add a due date, and see if only one event is created.

Let us know your findings.
Hope this helps!

Hi Joana,

Thank you! I’ve got this resolved.
