When I use a browser bookmark to open an Asana project/link that the current Asana account does not have access to, I get the blue button on the right hand side that shows this account doesn’t have access, and asks if I want to switch to the account (already logged in) that does have access. This is as expected with how account switching works.
However, at the same time, the previous workspace’s projects are shown in the left-hand side navigation. This is visually/mentally confusing as this is meant to be the URL/page for a different project/workspace and these projects from the other workspace are therefore a completely different context.
I’d rather the nav show a message related to not having access to the nav that would have gone along with the URL/page/workspace that was meant to have loaded, rather than show projects from a different context that should have nothing to do with that URL (although the current user has access to them).
Hi @Sarah_L , this doesn’t sound like expected behaviour - likely a bug. Could you upload screenshots, if possible?
Or try these troubleshooting steps, or create a support ticket: see How to contact our Support Team
Here’s a screenshot:
To clarify:
- The User has both Asana Accounts A and B and is logged in to both.
- Account A has access to all Projects in Workspace 1.
- Account B has access to all Projects in Workspace 2.
- The User was last using Account A in Workspace 1.
- The User clicks on a link or bookmark to a project in Workspace 2. Because Account A does not have access to this Workspace, the “Your current account doesn’t have access to this” notice appears, with the blue button to switch accounts.
- However, the nav on the side (project names have been redacted) are showing projects from Workspace 1, which is a big confusion of context when the notice on the right is about Workspace 2.
- This is especially confusing without more information displayed on the notice about project the User was trying to go to. (Which then relates to Show the project name when you try to open a project you don't have access to which I also created.)
Thanks also for the links. As I do think this is unexpected behaviour that I am probably not the only person experiencing, I thought a forum post that could be escalated/participated in by others might be the best avenue. I had thought I put this in the Product Feedback category, apologies if not.
