The value of getting Asana Workflow Specialist Certified (and Skill Badges)

Q: What’s the best way to help your organization gain value from its Asana licenses and develop your own Asana knowledge and skills?

A: Get your Asana Workflow Specialist Certificate, currently free for a limited time ($299 normally).

Or, if you just want to dip your toes in first with a more modest time commitment, consider starting with one of five free skill badges on a variety of essential topics, including two on AI.

They’re all part of Asana’s award-winning Collaborative Work Management Certification program. And you don’t even need a paid Asana license to complete these.

My Top Recommendation: Asana Workflow Specialist Certificate

After basic user-level Asana training, which you can gain at the Asana Academy or via my exclusive Asana Citizen Training, you’ll need to build workflows in Asana for the standard operating procedures you’d like to implement. Becoming a Workflow Specialist is the best way to learn how.

I was the first person to receive the Asana Workflow Specialist Certificate as part of the pilot program and saw firsthand the Asana team’s thoroughness and dedication in crafting this experience. Lest you think I’m biased in my recommendation, look no further than Accredible’s granting Asana Credentialing Program of the Year for 2025!

I, too, can attest to the value of this certification in bringing clarity, coordination, and productive collaboration to any organization’s teams and workflows. Increasingly, I encounter client organizations where someone in-house has taken the initiative to become an Asana Workflow Specialist. Immediately, I’m gratified and relieved because I know our collaboration will be smooth and speedy and yield excellent outcomes.

Achieving the certificates and skill badges

Whether you prefer powering through in focused, deep-work sessions or you’d rather “snack” on the bite-sized modules in brief daily practices, you’ll achieve the same outcome: A comprehensive understanding of what’s key to your Asana success.

If you have questions about the Workflow Specialist Certification, feel free to ask in the comments. Whether you’re exploring it or already enrolled, I’m happy to share insights from my experience.

You people know what I’m talking about!

Agreed. I am actually renewing mine for the first time this week and adding on the AI studio piece is giving me a lot of ideas on ways to streamline our workflows.

I feel confused about workflows in Asana in general. Are they only available on Enterprise plans?

@Kateland_Vernon1,

“Workflow” is a broad term, and I feel that simpler ones, at least, can even be implemented on the Asana free plan. So, no, the Enterprise plan is not required.

Here’s an AI definition of “workflow” as Asana describes it, that I think is good enough for general purposes:

Asana most commonly defines a workflow as “a repeatable sequence of steps that moves work from idea to completion.”

In its broader product and marketing language, Asana also describes a workflow as “an end-to-end process that helps teams meet their goals by connecting the right people to the right data at the right time,” moving tasks through a series of steps from initiation to completion.

Does that help?

Thanks,

Larry

This good to learn about.

It was fun hearing more of the backstory at yesterday’s webinar, too, and the thoughtful approach that led you to this success.

Thanks for the clarification, Larry! Maybe I’ve tried to implement more complicated ones and gotten stuck. I’ll have to take a second look.
