Task from Subtask Custom Field Equations - Same as "Column functions"

Sum of Subtasks would bring back many of the spreadsheet customers back to asana. This will lessen the need for exporting asana tasks to spreadsheet like an Old Joe and instead focus on getting real things done…

Any news on that feature. Missing it too.

Seriously :pensive: it’s been 4 years for such an important feature the community is requesting

Thanks for this! Is there a way to automatically create a subtask and assign an actual time of 1m to be able to generate a counter? I only see options in rules to set estimated time.

Yes!

(Well, I see I tested with an Estimated time field, so I hope it’s the same for Actual.)

In my team we are really missing this functionality too!

Thanks for the info Larry. What are you showing seems to be the solution to what this thread was asking for, unless I’m missing something?

I actually have the opposite request. I would like that when a Project filter is in place that excludes Tasks with a specific custom field value, that it would filter out SubTasks as well. Currently, it is not doing that and I have not been able to coax it into doing that.

The scenario we have is a combined Dev & QA team. The Dev Tasks typically end up with a QA SubTask, which both have estimated Sprint Points. We have a custom field for Team, but even when we filter for only Dev team, the QA SubTasks are still shown and the QA SubTask points still skew the actual Dev point total.

I’ve tried combinations of Filters and Groups, I’ve multi-homed the QA SubTasks to be ‘parent’ Tasks in the Project, but none of the things I’ve tried have resulted in the QA SubTasks being removed from the point totals.

Does anyone have any ideas or workarounds? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

@Aj_D,

I think you need to make a new topic for your request because it’s a different subject than this topic.

Also, you’re correct about my post; I’ll fix that up here and show this topic as addressed–thanks!

This request was implemented some months (or a year or two) ago.

Similar to what I posted here:

the same applies to any numeric field.

@Forum-team, can you mark this topic as launched?

Thanks,

Larry
