The new date custom field isn’t supported in Search yet, so I’m moving this thread to the Product Feedback category so you and other community members can support this request.
It would be so wonderful to have a date range for filter and search. I the terms of “next week” and "after today " are just too broad to help me with narrowing down a focus based on a date.
@Rachel_Botts I agree! But this topic is for allowing custom fields of the Date variety to be in Advanced Search – currently they are not available at all.
It is wild to me that this is still not supported. Was it just overlooked somehow? We have date-type custom fields and we can use them in Reporting & dashboards, and that is all fantastic, but we can’t do a simple (or advanced!) search on them.
Our client’s organisation uses Asana to manage our end-to-end org-wide workflow. As such, they need ways to be able to run complex reporting to understand where each work item is in the large workflow, specifically by using date custom fields.

Multiple projects, with multihoming
~20 custom fields for different data points
~20 subtasks per work item (which we call a ‘review’)
~20 complex rules per project to move things along with workflow, creation of subtasks at stages etc
We are submitting this feature request on the behalf of our client to ask Asana to pretty please add the ability to sort / filter Advanced Search based on a Date Custom Field, by a date RANGE, and to extend that capability to Projects to be able to filter based on a Date Custom Field RANGE (not just is today, before today etc etc)
Note: we have explored many solutions and workarounds, including the use of Due Date ranges instead of a date custom field, however need to manage multiple dates throughout the workflow and need the ability to have multiple date custom fields

@Von_Apparatus_Quo, re project filters, please search in Product Feedback for a related request and add your vote or add a new topic just about that if not found.
I have added a new custom field in date format, but when I try and do an advanced search, it does not show up in the ‘recent’ list of custom fields, or in the search.
Is this not supported, or is there something I am doing wrong?
