Status Updates: Ability to create task when writing update status

With the new design, we can not create task from the status update page anymore. It’s quite annoying, I personnally open a new tab with another asana page to be able to create new task in parallel writing the status update. It would be good to have the + at the right corner below again.

Hello everyone,

we are using the new status update function as a meeting protocol for weekly meetings.
Is it possible to assign tasks directly from the update?

For example we have the section “Next Steps:” and want to assign those steps by writing the list.:

Next Steps:

  • Write the new script @ Marco
  • Buy some pencils @ Julia
    -…

This would make us way more efficient. At this moment we need to create tasks after writing the protocol. So the work gets done two times.

When making status updates, I would LOVE to be able to @ someone with an action item and have it automatically convert into a task on their task list. Currently, if you get tagged you have to manually make you own task based on the notes. This could be done automatically since you are already writing all the relevant info in the status.

This feature is greatly needed. I agree that Vico that the workaround for a new tab is klunky, and adding a new task as part of the status update makes this a great feature when taking meeting minutes/notes.

Totally agree with folks: being able to add a task directly in a Status Update would be HUGE.

We don’t have an update on this request at the moment, but we will update this thread as soon as we do!

Having to have two tabs open to create tasks and then link to them in the status update is not ideal. This would be a huge change for meeting management.

Its 2024 and there is still no way to do this, at least in google docs, you can make tasks directly. I guess I will move the status updates to google workspace then.
