Being neurodivergent - Autistic ADHD-er in my case - it’s quite hard to keep focus without being distracted.
Handling inboxes is always a challenge, because I’ll get distracted by the fact there is a list and I can see it.
Because I can’t control being distracted or not, I tend to manage my field of view and hide the things that aren’t relevant. If I can’t see something, I can’t be distracted by it.
To mitigate this I’ll often maximise the task I’m working on, but that only works for when I do this actively, for as long as I’m working on it.
What I’d love to be able to do with my Asana inbox - with any inbox if I’m honest - is to switch to a mode which tackles one item at a time, and only switching to the next item once I’ve archived the active item.
I’d go even further in that I’d want this to be my default setting.
Maybe with a button like: show 3 related notifications to spot there are related notifications (I’m thinking belonging to the same project and/or triggered by the same person) and to be able to expand them.
I think this would not only benefit the neurodivergent, but everyone. My guess is that this time lost is hidden to many, and - like with open office spaces - the neurodivergent are the canary in the coalmine.
If you can’t see it, it can’t distract you.
Bonus feature: a counter indicating progress like 4 of 20 notifications processed
